After five years of living in different corners of London – Stratford, Woolwich, Notting Hill, Sydenham, Brick Lane, and Bromley – I knew this city had something for me. I used to say to my parents, ‘Mum, Dad – I have a mission in London,’ without knowing exactly what that mission was. I’ve always followed my instincts, trusting my gut, my second brain to guide me.
Eventually, I found the love of my life while working in Canary Wharf. And I know, without a doubt, that meeting him was part of that mission. I also fought to create the lifestyle I wanted and to find work that actually fulfilled me – two things so many people struggle with. I touch wood when I say it, I feel very lucky.
Now, we’re ready to buy a home and move somewhere new in the UK. I’m dreaming of a Roman spa town full of British charm and student life – a city with culture, comfort and quality of life, just a little removed from London’s non-stop pace. After five years, the size of this city can feel overwhelming… and I have to admit, I’ve never liked the Tube. Every time I’m down there, I feel like I’m breathing in smoke. So, ideally, our new home will have trams, buses and walkable streets. Canterbury is one of our top options. A peaceful place with easy access to London, for when we miss this incredible capital.
