Tenerife was such a fun experience – this time I went for my cousin Sandra’s hen do, and it was brilliant! I’d been before, staying near Playa de las Américas, which is known as the touristy side of the island. There’s a lovely walk along the coast, but to be honest, that area isn’t really my style. It’s full of pubs, British entertainment and deal drinks or happy hours. It’s funny how so many Brits flock there for exactly that — a cheaper pint and a holiday version of home.
But this trip was different. The destination took a backseat and the company became everything. Spending time with friends, planning little pranks and surprises for Sandra, and laughing from morning till nigh. It reminded me that travel is so much more than just the place.
What I took away from this weekend is that I’d still love to explore the north of Tenerife one day. I’ve heard it’s greener, more authentic and home to quieter beaches, although the temperatures can be noticeably cooler. I can’t say for sure — I haven’t been yet — but it’s on the list.
In the end, this trip was a perfect example of how great company can turn any destination into a special memory. Even if the place isn’t perfect, the people make it unforgettable.
